COUNTRY REQUIREMENTS
EUROPE
Must be in the Scrapie Monitoring Scheme, unless rams are ARR/ARR.
Scandinavian countries - extra requirements e.g. Norway must be UK-born animals.
Must originate from flocks free from CLA, Johne’s, MV, Jaagsiekte for specified time periods.
Semen used on EU embryo donors must be up to EU semen standard.
BRAZIL
Must also be up to EU standard, but must be ARR/ARR.
Must be 7 years scrapie monitored.
Must be Schmallenberg tested negative.
CANADA
Must also be up to EU standard.
Must be Schmallenberg and Johne’s disease test negative.
Must originate from flocks free from CLA, Johne’s, MV, Jaagsiekte for specified time periods.
USA
Must also be up to EU standard.
Must be Schmallenberg tested negative.
Longest quarantine period of 120 days before semen collection.
NEW ZEALAND
Semen donors must be genotyped and be ARR/ARR, ARR/AHQ, ARR/ARH or ARR/ARQ.
Semen donor flock must be free from Jaagsiekte for 5 years.
Semen and embryo donors must come from flocks where no EAE (Chlamydia abortion) diagnosed in past 2 years.
All genotyping for export must have been carried out by a veterinary surgeon, and sent to the SAC or Weybridge APHA. If this is not the case, donors will need to be tested again.
